Conservation and Philanthrophy has long been a fabric of our family. In 1894 our Great Grandfather assembled several properties to establish a Farm and Forest Preserve near New Canaan Connecticut. He had grown up as a laborer on a farm in Skaneateles NY, before later establishing a large Hide and Leather business in the Northeast.

He named the property Prospect Farm, built a summer home while developing the working farm. He said he thought the name sounded lucky. However more simply his prior home happened to be on Prospect St. in New Canaan. His stated mission Preserve, Conserve, Enjoy, lives on today here in Clarkston

Today, portions of his farm and woodlands remain and later evolved into what is known today as Waveny Park, which was donated by the later owner, Ruth Lapham, to the city of New Canaan. A beautiful place for the community and remains an inspiration for us. Our name honors his Legacy and carries it forward to another generation
